Saguaro National Park surrounds the city of Tucson in southern Arizona. The city sits right in the middle, splitting the park into two distinct halves. You will need a car to reach either side easily.

Where is Saguaro National Park located?

The park is in southern Arizona, split into two districts separated by the city of Tucson.

The Rincon Mountain District sits to the east of the city. The Tucson Mountain District sits to the west. Driving is the most practical way to reach and explore both East District and West District.

Why shouldn't I use my GPS to find the park?

Searching for just the park name can send you to the wrong location.

The National Park Service warns against typing "Saguaro National Park" into a GPS device or map app. This often routes drivers to administrative offices or incorrect entrances. Instead, use the specific names of the visitor centers for your destination.

How do I get to the West district?

How do I get to the East district?

Set your navigation to the Rincon Mountain Visitor Center.

This visitor center serves as your starting point for the East district. Like the West side, expect a 30 to 45-minute drive from downtown Tucson. Free Wi-Fi is available at the center, which helps since cell service is weak in the park.

How long does it take to get there?

Both districts are a 30 to 45-minute drive from downtown Tucson.

Because the park flanks the city on two sides, the travel time is very similar for both districts. If you want to visit both in one day, you must drive back through the city.

Can I drive an RV into Saguaro National Park?

Yes, but parking and driving options are heavily restricted.

There is no parking for RVs on the scenic loop drives in either district. The only place in the West district where RVs are permitted to park is the Red Hills Visitor Center.
